About Citadel Public Affairs
Citadel Public Affairs, a government and public affairs firm specializing in lobbying, advocacy, issues management, campaign strategy, economic development, and association support, launched in October 2025 under founder Alex Orel. With more than 13 years of state and federal policy expertise and bipartisan relationship-building, Orel is poised to serve clients across industries—ensuring their goals are achieved in the Kansas Statehouse and beyond. Citadel’s mission is to deliver strategic, results-driven advocacy that amplifies your voice, forges lasting relationships, crafts impactful solutions, and drives progress with integrity and trust to strengthen Kansas communities.
A Kansas City, Kansas, native, Orel studied business, entrepreneurship, and political science at Benedictine College. His career began in 2012 at age 19 in the Governor’s Office, and in 2015, he joined Kansas Electric Cooperatives as Manager of Government Relations. Since 2018, as Senior Vice President—and most recently, Executive Vice President—of Government Relations at the Kansas Bankers Association, he has led state advocacy, PAC, and Kansas Bankers Educational Foundation strategy, as well as leadership development programs such as Bank Leaders of Kansas and Young Bank Officers of Kansas.
Orel was recognized by his peers as the 2023 Kansas Society of Association Executives (KSAE) Professional of the Year and is a graduate of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders Program and the Men’s Leadership Series. He previously served on the Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and the American Bankers Association Emerging Leaders Council. Currently, he serves as President of the Board for KSAE and sits on the boards of the 20/30 Club of Topeka, Kansas Business Roundtable (Treasurer), and Family Service & Guidance Center. He lives in Maple Hill with his wife, Sydney, and their two German Shepherds.
Citadel’s services include governmental lobbying at all levels, legislative monitoring, association management, strategic planning, contract procurement, business development, coalition building, grassroots outreach, and PAC/Foundation management.
